NGO founded in 1994 to deal with environmental as well as social issues. It fosters leadership traits in young people, with participants growing an environmental conscience, becoming community oriented, and taking care of the education of the population with local and global environmental problems. The projects undertaken by this organization are meant to:

  • take care of health-related problems people in vulnerable areas may have;
  • denounce and lower the level of air pollution as well as contamination in creeks and rivers;
  • encourage the recycling of urban waste;promote the foundation/creation of Eco-groups


Parana (6 hour-drive from Buenos Aires)

A multifaceted personality to take part in radioand TV programs as well as in door-to-door educational activities with marginal populations such as garbage collectors and fishermen living on the islands of the ParanaRiver. A strong concern for environmental issues required.
Volunteers must attend training sessions.The number of sessions depends on the date of arrival.
Volunteers must cover the costs of travel to and from Parana, visa, health insurance and dining.

-Since Eco Urbano has joined a University project meant to spur solidarity among local organizations, volunteers can rotate, or work alternatively with other projects depending on needs.
-Volunteering in Montevideo, Uruguay during the summer Jan/Feb. is also possible.
-A 2-month course of Spanish as a Second Language available at the local University free of charge.
-Parana is a wonderful city that offers the most varied and important social, educational, cultural and recreational activities of the region.

Classify and file information for the library – Receive visitors – Foster activities with Eco-Clubes (
Help organize cultural activities, radio and TV programs.
Walk along marginal neighborhoods with young members of Eco Urbano helping the residents discover the relationship between their health problems and the local environmental deficiencies.
Travel to places where environmental conflicts need urgent solutions (such as the present conflict between Argentina and Uruguay for the Botnia paper-mill) or are about to explode.
Carry out surveys and write reports.

Free accommodation and/or dining at institutional buildings or host families depending on availability. Otherwise, rented houses can be shared with university students at a fairly low cost.

Any time of the year, preferably July, August, or September if willing to take advantage of the Spanish course.
